Hi Trish, I have had to do the exact thing; disable AVG to do a restore. It's relatively safe but if your really concerned you could disconnect your network or turn off your wireless connection. You click on
Options, then Advanced settings and it is near the top of the list. Be  sure to enable it when you get
your restore done.

I am trying to do a system restore on my PC running Windows 8.2. They say that it can not be completed and that I need to turn off my anti virus protection to continue. Is this safe to do and has anyone had to do this to do a restore? I am restoring because I am having PC issues of locking up when I am in Control Panel, trying to fix my sound which for some reason turned off after downloading "the cloud"
