From your description, it seems that AVG seeks your permission to scan the passwords stored in Chrome. To ensure this, share us the screenshot of the notification that you receive. 
AVG Antivirus includes Password protection feature, which will scan the password stored on your browser & notify you about password leaks, advising you about the security level of passwords stored in your browser.

I keep getting a message from AVG that says: "We've just protected your passwords! We've blocked Ant…from accessing passwords in your Google Chrome browser. What would you like to do?" Underneath this message are two buttons: "Block App" and "Allow App". No matter how many times I press "Block App" the dialogue won't go away.

Furthermore, the info underneath, assumedly giving info about the offending app says: "App name: C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG\Antivirus\AVGUI.exe". This looks to me like  AVG is saying that IT is in fact the offending program. Does anyone have any idea of how to stop this?
