I request you to disable fake website shield and check if there any changes in DNS leak. Refer the steps below to disable the component.

1. Click the Payments tile on the main AVG Internet Security screen.
2. Click the green (ON) slider above Fake Website Shield.
3. The slider changes to red (OFF), indicating that Fake Website Shield is disabled.

I installed the new AVG on my mac, as I read in the recent Macworld that it is worthy protection for my apple devices. I got a different VPN provider and now I see the AVG (I am trying out the full version for 60 days) is telling me DNS is leaking and it isn't safe. my VPN provider was working and not leaking DNS until AVG trial was set up. Now I would like to know where and how do I disable AVG VPN. Thank you.

I did disable the fake website shield and it worked on Mullvad. it is reporting everything is safe and nice. 

now, I see I have my basic things covered on AVG and I appear to have 4 unresolved issues including the VPN.
perhaps it is best for me today to downgrade the trail to the basic level and remain there.
Then everything looks nice on AVG and Mullvad.
