You can reinstall the AVG Ultimate program without any issue's. You can first try to temporarily disable the AVG program using the instructions on the article http://avgclick.me/TempDisableAVG and check whether you could access your games.
Please follow the instructions on the article http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-reinstall-AVG to reinstall all the traces of the AVG program and check whether it resolves the issue.
Note : Please use the AVG Remover tool mentioned on the article to uninstall the AVG program more effectively.
I have been having trouble with Steam for the past week. I am unable to launch any of my games, which I have been able to run without issue beforehand. I have had AVG Ultimate for a few months without any issues as well. Recently AVG did an automatic maintenance update, and I remember it identifying something to do with steam that either needed to be fixed or deleted. AVG did it's thing and now I can't launch any of my games. I have uninstalled and re-installed steam multiple times. Steam and any related programs are not put to sleep. I have tried everything short of going into the code itself to see what the problems is, and I am not an advanced user so I have no idea why this would happen. That last thing that has been suggested to me is to uninstall my antivirus program in case one of it's functions is somehow blocking the launching of games. AVG is identified on steam's website as a potential problem-maker for other steam users in the past.
So here's my question: Can I safely un-install AVG Ultimate and re-install it afterwards without having to purchase it again? I've paid for AVG ultimate already and I have an account and my account key. I just want to temporarily un-install it to see if that fixes my problem with steam. I want to re-install it afterwards, whether my problem with steam gets fixed or not. Thanks.
