Icon tray showing flag - but no fault showing in main program

I noticed today that there was a flag showing on the icon for AVG saying there was an error. When  I clicked on it it took me to AVG Zen - which by the way I never installed and should by law not be on my machine - as far as I'm concerned you have installed it illegally, since at no point did you openly ask my permission.

Anyway there was still nothing showing as being wrong when I clicked through to the main program 

What is going on?

Thanks Alan - I was aware - but this is no longer about the original problem - it's no about some idiot telling me something is mandatory - I have already replied to AVG in this thread but they have not posted my response.
I believe what they are doing by installing AVG Zen on my machine without my knowledge is tantamount to hacking. I am taking steps to get the programs off my machines and demanding a refund

No I'm sorry - you can go and jump. When I put this on my machine I did not have zen on. It first went on my android as a seperate item

You had no right to put this malware on my machine - I want to know how to take it off - I will take all of your software off my machines if neccesary

I'm not going to spend my time repairing problems caused by your faulty software. You may have the time to site around doing that - I certainly don't

Please tell me how I get a refund for the stupid product - or tell me how to get rid of Zen - there is no such thing as mandatory when talking about software - I am a customer not a subject

Please be informed that the AVG Zen is multi-platform software that allows you to view and administrate your antivirus and tuneup utilities across PC, laptop and Android smartphone and tablet. It lets you control your PC security from your phone, and it's free, but it ties you to AVG. We are extremely sorry to keep you informed that there is no possibility to install the AVG Protection program without the Zen Interface.

We can understand your concern but as per our record you have purchased the subscription for AVG Protection Multidevice (1 year subscription). Please be informed that we have recently made a change in the name of our Multidevice program. The name for AVG Protection Multidevice got changed to "AVG Internet Security Unlimited". This name change happened only in the month of October.
Also "ZEN" is the Interface for the Unlimited devices program alone and without this ZEN concept the program won't work. So if you aren't happy with this ZEN concept or with the ZEN program then you can purchase the license for the AVG Internet Security program and get refund for the AVG Internet Security Unlimited (1 year subscription) that you have purchased.
