No additional / helpful info available there …
FYI - on AVG updates and forced restarts (BTW, forced restarts happen way too often) I keep getting a Windows Explorer window opening to: C:\Documents and Settings\T40 User\Application Data\AVG … for no good purpose that I can determine …
These same symptoms are happening on another laptop I use that runs the same AVG program and OS.
This must be a common problem … why can't the AVG Support Knowledge Base search engine take me straight to the solution?
BTW, none of the text in any of AVG's GUI's is selectable for C & P … how hard would that've been to implement?
Hello Gulam, or, to Whom it may concern …
OK, the Repair procedure has cured the 'Identity NOT PROTECTED' issue, however, on restarts, I'm still getting the Windows Explorer window (without the Folders view, which is the view Windows Explorer normally opens to on these machines) opening to: 'C:\Documents and Settings\T40 User\Application Data\AVG\AV' …
Something is still goofy with this AVG AV Free Edition / Zen install … upon poking around, I can see that there are various remnants of previous AVG AV Free Ed.'s on these machines (FYI - I have consistently used the incremental incarnations of the AVG AV Free Ed. s/w … for quite some time now) … the aforementioned (artifact-like, W.E. window opening to 'C:\ … \AV' on a restart) behaviour seems associated with the recent move by AVG to introduce your AVG Zen interface to the Free Ed. product …
Also, why does the AVG AV Free Ed. s/w continually try to foist your other products on me by way of an unbidden GUI? … after I have consistently refused these products (clicked Decline or Close [in the GUI]) time and time again, generally at the expense of derailing my work / thought-process by grabbing the OS focus … I am considering paying another AV company for their AV s/w to be rid of the unbidden GUIs bombarding me … currently occuring with your AV Free Ed. s/w …
Thanks, Kevin

Hello Kevin,
We are sorry to know about the inconvenience caused. Automatic upgrades were offered in an attempt to provide advanced features to our customers for the 'trial' period. AVG Zen enables you to manage also your other devices from the same interface. You may get pop-ups once the 'trial version has expired. However if you wish to remove pop-ups and continue using AVG Free without the 'Zen' feature, please follow the instructions to remove AVG traces using remover tool( http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe ). Please restart to complete the uninstalling process. After restarting your computer, you may need to manually uninstall/delete any remaining AVG applications from 'Control panel' and also 'search' for a folder "AVG Remover"(usually in 'C' drive) and please delete it manually.
