Thank you Gulam & Divya, the problem is now fixed. The first link (to un-install) didn't work so I did it through my control panel. The second link worked fine.

Since installing AVG 2015 my Identity has not been protected. I followed the guidelines but it says it cannot be fixed.

2.Run the downloaded tool and follow the instructions displayed on your screen.
