May I know what action you performed from the option that was listed on the threat popup?
Are you aware of the Atom-editor update.exe application that is installed on your PC?
Is it a trusted program?

Hi all,

I've just got a pop-up indicating an IDP.ARES.Generic infection of the Atom-editor Update.exe program.

Any suggestions on what is going on and/or what to do?

I didn't do anything explicitly. My guess is that the Atom editor was checking for updates in the background. The editor is running, but I wasn't using it at the time.

I did install Atom and it should be a trusable application: https://atom.io
