If the old version of AVG anti-virus files not removed from the Library, you will not be able to install latest version of AVG Anti-virus.
Please try to remove AVG files manually from Library and restart the PC. Then, try to install latest version.

Short story: I upgraded my Mac. The Free Antivirus Mac v.19.7 was moved from my old Mac to my new Mac via the Migration Assistant.
v.19.7 won't run on the latest MacOS on the new MacBook Air. I downloaded the latest Free version but I get an error that the old version must be uninstalled. I didn't know there was an uninstall command within the menu. To remove the "old" AVG Anti I selected the app's "contents", deleted everything, but there must be something "contents" missed b/c the new install is still being blocked & I still get the error that I have to remove the version already installed.
I've searched "AVG" on the new MB Air but nothing is found. I've restarted 3x but the new version is still blocked b/c I need to "remove/uninstall" the installed version. I'm at a dead end. If I can't get it to install soon, I'll move on. I was hoping to upgrade to the full version & possibly the VPN but I was waiting to buy my new Mac. I'm glad I waited b/c I'd be very disappointed if the paid version was blocked during the install.
Anyway, I figured I'll give posting this question a shot.
