Hello Frank,
The "Last scan" status on AVG interface issue was fixed in the recently released 18.1 version (the latest version of AVG Free Antivirus/AVG Internet Security is 18.2 now). I would also like to inform you that it will get updated only if you run a scan by clicking on "Scan computer" on main interface and not for any other scans like Schedules scan, deep scan and file or folder scan.
Best regards,
Alok.
Rick, may I know how did you start the virus scan that you mentioned you ran? Please provide a screenshot (http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot) of AVG interface showing the wrong "Last computer scan" status.
Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
Thank you for your patience and co-operation, Rick.
It tells me the last scan I did was 6 months ago. I've manually scanned since 6 months ago. Why bother telling me that I haven't had a scan when the automated scans do not affect them? I have an auto scan set up weekly on my PAID subscription, so those scans are worthless according to your message. After being in IT for more than 30 years, one thing that I've learned, if you display something on the screen it had better be accurate or remove it. If you persist in excluding automatic scans, change the message to say, xxxxx since last manual scan.
Current AVG version 18.2.3046
Hi Jeffrey,
We apologize if an AVG product did not meet your expectations. Our main goal is to keep our customers happy.
AVG carefully monitors the quality of our products and the service we provide, therefore all feedback from our customers is important to us.
Could you tell me if you have run a scan manually by clicking on the "Scan Computer" Button on your AVG Anti-Virus User Interface? If not, I request you to do that and check if that resolves the issue. In case issue persists, please repair your AVG Anti-Virus Free and then run a manual scan by clicking on "Scan Computer".
Well it's about time they fixed this. I gave up last year. Duriing one of the updates it actually worked correctly but now my last scan shows "5 months ago" even though the computer is scanned every morning at 5 am.

Bruce is right. Just from a design standpoint, why confuse and worry users iewht an inaccurate notice? The half assed fix is to change the text string to report "Last manual scan" -that can't be that hard. Doing it right is logging the time any scan has been performed and report that.
At least I know now to pay no attention to the notice because scheduled scans are apparently happening even if the Last Scan notice makes me question that assumption. But that's not obvious to anyone who hasn't been here in this thread.
Security includes peace of mind. I want to know that my computer is being scanned because what if it's not? How would I know? A simple "Hey, I scanned everything yesterday" is comforting. I enabled the log file and I guess I'll have to remember to check that every so often.
I have used AVG for years on 3 computers.
NO MORE. I will never buy this product again AVG Total Security 2017/.
My first complaint is the never ending requests to buy more services. I have called AVG numerous times and applied all suggested settings. AVG even did a remote and still I am bothered with this all day long requests to "BUY"
AVG notes "Last computer scan 7 months ago" Not true. This program sucks. Do not buy
I did a "repair"…no help.
I recently opened AVG and it said "Fully Protected" at the same moment it advised UPDATE REQUIRED…Huh?
I uninstalled the "fix" portion of AVG and am waiting to see results.
Main program still apears to be working, "Last sacn 7 months ago" message remains.
Save your money
Regarding the AVG Antivirus Free program I have been using with my desktop pc and two laptops for many years. I find that I am writing on this forum about incidents of instability, more often now than in the past. My virus definitions and Program files are always up to date.
This time, the "Last computer scan: 4 days ago" indication on the lower left side of the home page, does not reflect the latest scans I have done within the last four days. Those scans were Computer Scan, File or Folder Scan, USB / DVD Scan and Deep Scan. Each completed with Infected files: 0. A similar error occurs on my Lenovo laptop, but with "Last computer scan: 6 days ago." I did various scans in the last 6 days, including a Boot-Time Scan.
Why doesn't the "Last computer scan" indication, reflect the date / time since the latest scan? It used to say "seconds ago" right after a scan.
Rick, AVG user interface will update the “Last computer scan” data only if you press "Scan Computer" floating button and not for any other scans. However, in the upcoming release of AVG the quick scan, deep scan and full computer scan or scheduled scan should be updated too.

Considering the amount of time I have already spent trying to solve this problem, I refuse to undertake uninstall and reinstall procedures, followed with an hour or so needed to establish my preferred settings. Note that I have one desktop and two laptops using the program. I would have to do apply the same procedure to each unit. I am sure I do not have to convince you how time consuming that would be!
I would say I have put in enough time to correct a problem that came from nowhere. The fact that Repairs did not correct the problem is a bad sign. Therefore, I expect you to escalate this matter to one of your senior level technicians to analyze the exact cause..... as soon as possible.
Since the last Program file was released on 12/21/2017, It makes sense that an update would be available soon. With most programs, when a program file is updated, it usually fixes the problems that were reported since the last program file update.
Thank you for your patience and co-operation, Rick.
Hello J,
I understand your concern.
Please send me the screenshot http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot of the pop-up you received regarding "Buy".
The scan status will change only when you run AVG scan manually by clicking on "Scan Computer" from the interface.
Please run AVG scan manually and check if that fix the issue.
I am experiencing the same problem… In my case the "Last Computer Scan" states "one year ago"… I ran a scan, restarted my computer, and still have the "one year ago" message…
I'm on 18.4.3056 (Build 18.4.3895.325)… I performed an UPDATE and it returned with a "already up to date"…
I asume I am OK from a protection point of view, but that message certainly makes me doubt if anything is going wrong and I have am exposure…
Thanks for any suggestions / help…
Avinash… I started the virus scan clicking on the cog symbol to the right of the SCAN COMPUTER… and then clicked on the "Run Scan Now" corresponding to the scheduled scan I have set up…
The screenshot I just took is attached as requested…

I forgot to mention that I did a Repair on the desktop and laptop several times to solve the problem. No change.
I just completed your suggestion to "Scan Computer." No change. I did a Repair with a Restart. No change. I did another "Scan Computer." No change. Now what?
