Alan, Your answer was right on. I didn't realize there were different installation downloads. Thank you for your timely and accurate response.
Tom, I think you've downloaded the online installer. You actually need either the 32 or 64bit file from this link (http://free.avg.com/download-free-all-product). Also if you're not sure about 32 or 64 bit on the standalone system have a look @ this link (http://forums.avg.com/ww-en/avg-free-forum?sec=thread&act=show&id=140471#post_140471).

I put the recommended file on a flash drive, copied it to the computer not on the Internet and the Install of AVG for Windows was going OK until I got this message: "A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MFAData\pack\COREx.cab has an invalid digital signature. This may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt." The file did not work.
I want to install avgfree on a standalone computer. I have downloaded the installer onto a usb drive from another computer. When I try to install it to the standalone computer, it fails because the installation requires internet connection. Older versions of avgfree didn't have this requirement. Is there a way around this problem?
Can I download the latest version of avgfree that doesn't require internet connection and can be "updated from directory" using a usb drive with the update files on it? If so, what version and how can I find it?
