Hello Jim,

I understand that you are unable to install AVG and get error. Please try this offline installer and check if you are able to complete the installation.

Avg install fails with 0x0601 . Have tried all stated to remove or clear and reinstall, But still fails to install correctly. Clean install of windows 7 with updates done.
