I am having a similar problem, where i previously had Mcafee but after unistalling it i was unable to install AVG

I have the same problem ,i try all steps and nothing.P.S in past i had avira antivirus

Hi Razvan, I will help you resolve the issue, please check whether you have  logged in as administrator while installing the AVG.   Please have a look at http://avgclick.me/1Jm576W . If those instructions did not help, I would request you to run AVG remover tool based on your OS (32-bit or 64-bit) to completely remove AVG and then re install. To determine whether your OS is a 32-bit or 64-bit, please click on this link. http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/827218 . Try running the AVG BFE Fix multiple times to fix this issue

Installed the AVG antivirus by running the window in safe mode but when i click the icon created on the desktop after installing the AVG antivirus it show error saying "Window  cannot access the specified device,path,or file. you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

Earlier i had avast antivirus only and i have used avast remover tool to unistall avast completely but still showing the same error and also i tried to install AVG by running window in safe mode and it show error "The Installer has insufficient privilage to modify this file 
C:\Program File(x86)\AVG\AVG2015\avgcrema.exe".
