I am sorry to hear that. I would request you to run the AVG remover and AVG clear tool to remove the traces completely to install AVG Antivirus free. Download and run AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe . This tool will help with removing antivirus component of AVG 2017 and its traces.
Open tool
User Account control - click "Yes"
Windows safe mode - click "No" (we cannot recommend use the tool in safe mode, because there is a problem with compability)
Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
Click "Uninstall"
Click "Restart computer".

Hi,

I've had AVG for years. When the update came for the newest version, I had to redownload AVG, but now I all I get at the end of the installation is "Installation failed… 0xC0070426: General error (0x0426) " I can't get it to uninstall (when trying, it just tries to install) and though I tried redownloading it, I keep getting this error.

Help.

I had the same problem I had to run in safe mode with networking and download CCleaner, Malwarebytes and Superantispyware and clean my computer, then unload the AVG till they can fix it. The AVG Tune Up messes up your computer too I think that is the culprit that caused my problem when the AVG started to download latest updates!!!
