Installation of AVG onto my Lap Top

how can I check that the recent installation onto my LapTop of AGV protection is working. I suspect I am still not protected.

I kindly request you to double click on the AVG icon to open your program (AVG Internet Security) and check it the message is displayed as 'You are protected'.
