Installation Problem

For anyone with the same problem, I have spent the better part of a day trying the various 'solutions' laid out here - all with no effect.!

I eventually noted that all the downloads were based on a 7-zip protocol; and after downloading a 7z020.exe programme from http://www.7-zip.org - I was now miraculously able to initiate the AVG setup & repair.

Everything now works as well as previously

Thank you all for your replies! I downloaded the 64 bit program, and at the prompt used the 'repair' feature of the download, which repaired the 'Identity' issue. After an 'update' was performed, the AVG program returned to normal. Thanks again, I love the ease and quickness of the whole computer scans, which I perform frequently.

Thank you to all for your replies. I have tried each one but still keep getting the same error message. I can download the initial file OK, but when I try to proceed with the installation, I get the error message set out in my initial post.

I have run AVG on this PC for several years with no problems whatsoever. I only needed to re-install AVG due to some (unrelated) hardware problems.

I should be grateful for some further assistance so that I might resolve this problem.

Hi,

I downloaded the AVG 2015 Free installation file. When I tried to run it I received the message:

"avg_free_stb_all_5961p1_177.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience"

My OS is Windows XP.

I should be grateful for some help in order to resolve this problem.
