I just signed up for the free 30-day trial of the AVG TuneUp. The email I received says, "To activate your subscription … open your AVG product and go to the AVG dashboard." I did that. Then it says, "Open the 'Connect' menu and click on 'Connect.'"
I don't see anywhere on the dashboard that says "Connect." The only choices I have are "My AVG," and "Menu." "My AVG" just shows an overview of AVG products, what I'm subscribed to and others I could by. Under "Menu" my choices are, "Settings," "Do Not Disturb," "Quarantine," "File Shredder," "Support," "Help," and "About." No "Connect" anywhere.
The image they included in the email shows the "Connect" tab in the top right-hand corner. On my dashboard I appear to have no such tab.

I do not have the AVG TuneUp icon on my desktop. And that concerns me, as I followed all the stops to sign up for the free 30-day trial, including giving my credit card number.

From your initial query, I realize that you have installed AVG Internet Security not AVG Tuneup. You have subscribed to AVG TuneUp - Unlimited (30 day trial). Install AVG Tuneup as suggested here: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Install-TuneUp and activate it using your email address & password.
Click on Answer & then click on the Image [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions to share the screenshot to assist you further.

You can find the AVG PC TuneUp icon on the desktop, please double click on it to open the program.
