Installing Password Protection causes Antivirus FREE to go into locked passive mode

Hello John,

I understand the inconvenience.
Please be informed that this isn't due to AVG Password Protection program.
Do you have other antivirus program like Malwarebytes or Norton installed on your PC?

After a problem-free long period of running Antivirus FREE I responded to a pop-up suggesting I buy Password Protection. I had to open an AVG account and buy the product.which went through fine, but then I got an update prompt for Antivirus FREE which after a re-start has tipped the app into 'Passive Mode' which freezes the app. I have tried a repair which completes OK but does not solve the issue. Is it because I have installed a paid-for product alongside the free one? How do I resolve this?

No I do not. In practice I have now resolved the issue - after several attempts at repairing the app, it finally allowd me to push 'fix the problem' which then worked and operation is restored. What I do not have is the passowrd protection facility I have paid for - when I try to open that, it asks me to buy it again!

I am sorry to hear that the AVG Password Protection disabled after AVG repair. We do not see any active subscription of AVG Password Protection in your account. Please check if you have purchased this product using correct email address.
