Internet connection says weak security. Why?

When I use my wifi with another device (phone) it tells me that WPA/WPA2 (TKIP)  is not considered secure.  Recommends to configure router to use wpa2 (AES) or WPA3 security type.  My kid surprised me and installed a new modem and wifi router, (YIKES)  And I only know enough to be dangerous with this crap!  Not sure how to remedy this.
