I have been wrestling with this problem for 2 months - No internet function. I have had my cable provider here 6 times to check my cable connection, which is fine. I have had two IT visits from the makers of my computer. At first the internet would cut off sporadically. Recently, I have not been able to access the internet at all even though my Win 10 computer says I am connected. Tuesday, when I turned my computer on, AVG (the message was Windows Defender and AVG Internet security are both Off) was disabled and the internet worked. AVG wants me to restart it so the updates become effective. I have not done so and will not turn off the computer until I am assured that the disconnected internet problem will not recur…!!! I see many other people are having similar problems with AVG Security. What the HELL are you guys doing to us???
Cornelius, With the advent of Win 8 & consequently Win 10 Windows Defender was re-classified to an AntiVirus prog which can conflict with AVG so it should be disabled when AVG is installed…
Windows Defender is a software product that attempts to detect and remove malware. It was first released as a free antispyware program download for Windows XP, shipped with Windows Vista and Windows 7 and made into a full antivirus program replacing Microsoft Security Essentials as part of Windows 8 and later versions.
