Hello Frank,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
This is a known issue and we request you to update your AVG program once and check whether the issue persists.
Also please let us know whether you have installed our latest 2016 version.
Hi.
Thank you for your quick response.
What intrigues me is that you have identified the issue, but no patch seems to have been suggested yet.
I did an update, as you suggested, but the issue persists. My AVG program is the 2016 version, numbered numbered 2016.71.7596 - there is no more recent one (according to the website).
When I raised the query about IE 11 not working with AVG Firewall present I was encouraged to submit a screen print to you of what appears on my screen when I attempt to open up IE. AVG has a program to do a screen print and I downloaded it. Not only did the WinRAR fail to save the print off but the program has also stopped the entire Windows from opening up again following the crash of my machine – the desktop screen suddenly went black and refused to switch off until I withdrew the power supply. Eventually I had to open in Safe mode, do a System Restore and uninstall the two files AVG had opened up (AVG_Screenshots and the accompanying WinRAR archive). Even so, I am now unable to open up Windows from Hibernate, Sleep or Restart - I have to go via Safe Mode. Is this another ‘glitch’ in the AVG repertoire?
I look forward to hearing from you.

Like Jan E on 5 April, IE 11 will not load on my Windows 7 Home Premium desktop. It immediately shows "Internet Explorer has stopped working" and suggests checking on line for a solution - which is not possible… because IE is not working!
I switched off AVG Firewall and opened up Windows Firewall. IE now worked fine. So it is the AVG Firewall causing my problem. If I use Google Chrome (with AVG protection) the internet works OK. It all seemed to raise its head after an update and restart at about the same as Jan E's report. How can I fix it, please?
