Internet Explorer CPVRedirect.com virus keeps coming back after removal

Hi Gary,

Thanks for posting back.

The CPVRedirect browser hijack virus was never able to be removed from my system, even after:

Resetting preferred DNS server
IE 11 and Chrome 41 browser resets
Registry entry search and deletions
Unknown programs and folders uninstall/deletion

I was finally forced to resort to use a Sytem Restore Point, which, fortunately, was just far enough back to be unscathed by the virus. If that had been unavailable, I would be potentially facing a total clean re-install of Windows after a drive format. A pretty ugly and time-consuming process.

This seems to be a very persistent virus which re-appears as an Internet Explorer browser hijack whichy opens all by itself, even though I NEVER use IE, only Google Chrome. Removed it once, only to have it re-appear soon after. Must have missed something on this one, can anyone shed some light on what to do to properly kill this virus for good? Do AVG Free Editions' latest definitions have this one covered? It didn't catch it the first time, and never warned me at any point, so that's a bit susperct here.
