After this please restart the PC and follow the below link to start with the re-installation.

I had it installed for some time until an update got corrupted. I attempted to uninstall and reinstall. I downloaded it again and it would not let me scan until i signed up for internet security free trial. I did so and then it immediately expired and would still let me scan. I then found someone with a similar problem in a forum here: AVG Community
I uninstalled with the remover tool and re downloaded. It said to reset so i did and before it reset i saw that avguix.exe had failed. It restarted and the same thing happened and i can't scan. While I appreciate the fact that you offer a free product, at this point I'm ready to pay a competitor just to get rid of this aggravation.
