The "predominantly red page", directing to call the number, prevented further access to computer and persisted through first restart. Not being a "guru", I'd say that was more than a threat! Since AVG Ultimate did not seem to accomplish one of its expected purposes that appeared the wake up call to move on and hopefully not throw further good money (i.e. renewal) after bad! The issue of difficulty with being able to supply a screen shot, due to differing log-in addresses was just icing on the cake!
Hello William,
My apologies for any inconvenience caused. It would be helpful if you let us know when you receive this notification. Is it while browsing or using an application?
For better clarity, share us the screenshot by following the steps in the link: Creating screenshot.
Looking forward to your reply.
Best regards,
Alok.
Why is scam "Internet Security Alert Code 055bccac9fec" not removed by AVG Internet Security? (as part of AVG Ultimate.)
Ah, uh, taking a photo of a malware message that has already been deleted through use of another program, is, uh, sometimes really difficult. Ya know?
The pertinent information on that red page, however, was:
"support.windows.com
Internet Security Alert Code 055bccac9fec
Call Windows Technical Support (888) 374-9886"
Surely you could have obtained the same information from the several Internet references (if you don't "Google", use Yahoo or Bing), without causing me to waste even more time. Enough! Don't e-mail me again. I am tired and "sick to death" of AVG Support! No help, just inane requests and time wasters.
Thank you for sharing the entire message that appeared on the popup.
We have come across these kind popups which usually occurs when they are forced by unwanted browser plugins or extensions.
Hence, they aren't considered as real threat.
When these situations occur, we have to uninstall unwanted programs and weird extensions from browsers.

Hello William,
We apologize if an AVG product did not meet your expectations. Our main goal is to keep our customers happy.
I was asking for screenshot to confirm if the alert is just generic scam page or a real threat. If the alert is just generic scam page on browser then that the might be because of browser extension/cookies. We would have fixed this issue for you.
Best regards,
Alok.
I received a server error accessing you. If you didn't receive my response a few minutes ago, it was:

Such lack makes it more difficult to supply a screenshot, were one still available; since you DEMAND sign-in, and - unfortunately - cannot deal with the description of a malware problem that is well known and identified on the Internet simply by "googling".
Due to which I bought and installed "Total AV" this morning, as recommended by C/NET, hoping that program and "support facility" will present a better/easier solution and accessibility to support as needed!!!!! The free malware removal program by emsisoft will also be used.
William, For your info, just in case that you are unaware, you can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
