Internet Security stopped working

Please run AVG Clear tool followed by AVG removal tool as mentioned in this article: https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product to remove AVG traces.
NOTE: If there are no AVG program found, click on "Run Anyway" to proceed with the removal.

I'm just over half way through my 2 year subscription, and suddenly my protection has disappeared. When I try to reload it, I keep getting the message 'UI Failed to load. This is really embarrassing. AV Service is not responding.' Clicking 'restart service' has no effect. I've tried using the 'reset access tool', the 'AVG remover tool' and the 'Install AVG using the latest installation file tool', but all to no avail. The remover says there are no AVG components on the computer, and the installer says AVG is already installed!! Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
