We're glad to clarify this for you.
The scanning option depends upon user preferences. You can run a smart scan at regular intervals (daily) or schedule smart scan to run daily & run a deep scan weekly once. 
However, we'd like to clarify that AVG releases patches (virus definitions) every 4hours, which would protect your computer against emerging threats.

There are 4 scans available for the Internet Security.  What Is the recommended schedule for running each scan.  I am running all 4 every day.  Is that necessary?  The deep scan takes the longest and is not finished by the time I want to turn my computer off.  I would appreciate your suggestions.
