I am getting the message, "Something went wrong" each time I attempt to use the activation code

I upgrade my AVG and paid for one year subscription to AVG Internet Security today. Nine hours later I finally received a confirmation email with download and activation code. The download was installed on computer. the computer was restarted as instructed. The activation code given doesn't work and is not valid. I need this fixed ASAP
