Internet Slow down on my laptop

Hi,

I have AVG AntiVirus Free on my laptop; I noticed my internet was a bit slow on my laptop after I installed it. I checked task manager to see the performance of my WiFi, and my laptop was receiving less than 8 kbps. This was very odd to me as my internet was doing fine on my other devices, so I decided to uninstall AVG and after restarting, my laptop was receiving at the normal above 50 mbps that it should be. Is there something in AVG AntiVirus that is affecting my laptop's receiving rate for internet? I would still like to use AVG, but if it keeps slowing it down...
