Internet speed dropped 90%

Hello Chris,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.
We will check and help you with this issue.
Please confirm whether you are using AVG Secure VPN program on your PC.
If yes, you may experience a slower internet connection when using AVG Secure VPN. This is because a VPN encrypts traffic and data before sending it to a server. Depending on the distance and capacity of the server, this process may cause a slightly slower, but safer, internet connection.

Please click 'Change location', connect to different server locations and check if the issue persists.
Thank you.

Just upgraded my AVG to include a whole suite of products. BIG mistake my internet speed has dropped to almost nothing on my PC (0.5mb) whilst phone which I dare not upgrade yet is getting 60mb!
Reading FAQ does not really help.

VPN is not on…my work PC without AVG is running at 65mb so issue is on this laptop with AVG.

We certainly understand you are not comfortable with reduced internet speed, Chris.
But it is expected behavior when your internet traffic is routed through a VPN server (not only AVG).
Thank you for understanding in advance.

Nisha read my comment - the VPN is switched off… and it is still running slow

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, Chris.
We suggest you temporarily disable (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlname=Disable-AVG-Antivirus) AVG Internet Security and check for the issue status.
If the issue persists, please turn off all the AVG AntiTrack features and check.
Keep us posted.
