Do you have the 'optimal location" set in AVG Secure VPN?
If yes, try changing the location and check whether there is an improvement in the internet speed.

Hello Anthony,
I will certainly check this for you.
Do you have any other security software installed on your computer?
If yes, disable that security software and check if the Internet speed increases on your computer.
I am using Cox Internet, and I normally get speeds up to 225 MBPS, but with my AVG VPN active, I only get 35-45 MBPS. A 75% reduction!
I've tried different VPN servers, including the recommended server that is close to my home in Arizona. I've tried calling Cox, and they say that it's on the VPN side, not their issue. Any possible solutions here?

Hi
I disabled Windows Defender, and I have AVG firewall still active. It did increase my speed to 70-80 MBPS, but I am stil short of 220. Any other suggestions?
