Invading our context menus

Hi Alok

Thank you for responding. However I do not really understand what you are asking, since your written english is quite confusing. I will try to guess what you are asking and respond anyway.
I had not updated my AVG free antivirus program in quite a while, only the virus definitions. When I recently updated it, the program (without any warning or my consent) added a SCAN and a SHRED option in my Windows 10 recycle bin context menu - this is my main problem. It also added the same two options to my windows explorer context menu, this is less of a problem since I might be able to fix it easly myself, but still not wanted.
What I was wondering is; How can I get rid of these options in the Recycle Bin context menu? Is there an option in avg to remove this invasive, useless vandalism?

Also wondering how you can invade my settings in this way without warning or without an option to not install stuff in users context menus, and if you plan to stop implementing these invasive options in future releases, without user-consent?

Regards Porre Konung

Hello Porre,

I apologize for the delayed reply.

I would like to inform you that all these options were in AVG 2016 and older versions, we changed it in 2017 version where some of them were available however we went back to the original configuration based on the User Feedback.

You can disable the context menu options by following the steps below:
- Disable AVG Self Protection
- Copy file C:\ProgramData\Avg\Antivirus\settings.ini to e.g. desktop
- Edit copied settings.ini
– Add "ShellExtensionFileName=-1" line to the [UserInterface] section to disable AVG Scan option
– Add section [Shredder] and line "ShowInContextMenu=0" to disable AVG Shredder
- Save the file and copy it back to the original location (replace the old file).

Hello Porre,
We have received a reply from our senior team and they confirmed that it is possible that Recycle bin have context menu and windows explorer context menu. However, may which exactly have been added and let me know if there is any issue with "context menu and windows explorer context menu"?
Best regards,
Alok.

Porre,
Sorry for the trouble, we have escalated this case to our concern team. We will get back to you soon with a resolution, your patience is  much appreciated. Thank you!

I have to say I am pretty annoyed. Updated the AVG antivirus free program today and it automatically added two items to my recycle bin context menu and to my windows explorer context menu - you have some nerve, messing up our systems without asking and without having any options in settings to undo this nonsense. This is the kind of crap companies pulled 20 years ago, silly, weak piece of programming there… Any plans to fix this?
