I just wanted to add my experience, as I have also been getting the same error message since 2nd March, which is the date of the original post. I tried to repair AVG and reboot but it didn't fix the issue. So I uninstalled AVG and rebooted, then I reinstalled it but NOT from the download file I already had on my computer. I went to the AVG website and downloaded the setup file from there. It seems to be working fine now. I noticed that the release date of the program is 1st March - Coincidence with people having problems with their previous version on 2nd March Probably not. Hope this helps!
I tried the repair on one machine, but it didn't worked.
So you say that I can spend 30 min. of my work day, to reinstall the 3 licenced machines? No other way, like emptying some cache update or something else?
This last year I got too many problems with AVG, and lost 3 clients for this kind of update problem, after more than 15 years of good job.
Please do something, or I'll go anywhere else !
This morning when I turned my computer on, I tried to update AVG's virus definitions, but instead, an error that read "Invalid file signature. Setup will terminate" showed up. How do I solve it? I am running Windows 7.

Your information did not work for me. I repaired the AVG, I rebooted and then tried to update. Same issue.

In this case, I request you to AVG Protection (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-repair-AVG), and reboot your computer once. After reboot, please check if your AVG Internet Security updates is working fine.

We appreciate your efforts, you can try reinstallation of AVG Internet Security Unlimited to fix this error. Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Uninstall -> Uninstall AVG Internet Security and restart your device.
Click on this link: http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/Internet_Security_1824.exe to install AVG Internet Security Unlimited. Once the installation gets completed, open Internet Security -> My AVG -> My Subscription -> enter your email address and password registered with AVG. Hope, it helps.
