I have the same problem as Tiffany and Ian. I have used the support link and I was returned to this site. I have Ultimate on three computers and they all register the same error message, How do I uninstall Ultimate and run the AVG clear tool.
My paid AVG Internet Security advises "Virus definitions are out of date" . However when I try to update, I get the message " Invalid file signature. Setup will Terminate.
Internet connection is fine and my subscription is valid for another year.

It could be possible that the latest updated (18.2) have failed to install completely or the connection with update server was interrupted. I would suggest you uninstall (run AVG clear tool to remove the traces) the current version and reinstall AVG to resolve the issue.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused. The issues might be because of old/previous AVG traces.
In this case, I request you to remove AVG completely along with any previous traces using the AVG clear tool/AVG Remover tool and then do a fresh installation of AVG. This will ensure that none of the previous traces of AVG are left on your computer and you have an updated version.
Please follow the instruction ( http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product ) to run AVG Remover tool and AVG Clear tool.
After the computer reboots, you can follow the instruction to download/install AVG Antivirus Free.

I am experiencing exact same problem. Every time the AVG definitions try to update, or even the latest version tries to update, the same message comes up

WHAT THE BLAZES has AVG done to their antivirus program??? This has never happened before.
