I have had the same ongoing problem since 13th April 2018. I followed instructions here. Repaired, reinstalled which cost me a whole morning. I had to clean. Didn't work. I resinstalled numerous times and finally understood that I had to download the full offline version "avg_internet_security_setup_offline.exe" and that worked.
What I didn't realise my update was still not working until today. Went through all the ame procedures and then I was able to reinstall only to realise that my updates still won't update.
This is what i suggest: Provide a fix withing 48 hours else I will charge back on Paypal the USD 99. I have 6 months coverage.
Your AV has become a nightmare for most. It reminds of the erly of Microsoft, the only difference with AVs, we have other choices.
Is this the start of the end of AVG?
Ok wasn't believing much in the solution (if it was a hardcoded problem, then an update of the program could have solved it)… and sadly I was right, it doesn't change anything after repair.
Well guess my only solution is to move to a new AV, since it has been bought by AVAST, this great AV is falling apart :'(

Thanks for prompt answer. Yes this is AVG Free.
Screenshot would be exactly the same as the one in this thread:
Invalid file signature. Setup will terminate | AVG
NB. server prefix change between reboot (or maybe depending on time)
Please also note that it is a fresh install (only 2 weeks ago) on freshly installed OS.
From my diagnostic users are not faulty. It's something that should be escalated to sysadmin.

Az, we don't want our customers to leave that easily.
I request you to perform a re-installation of AVG Antivirus free using our removal tools and if the issue persists, we will be able to collect logs and escalate the case to the senior team.
If you are ready to perform the re-installation, please run AVG removal tool followed by Clear tool as mentioned (here).
NOTE: If there are no AVG program found, click on "Run Anyway" to proceed with the removal.
Install AVG Antivirus free as mentioned (here).
