Hello Ian,
I understand the inconvenience caused, let's work together to fix this issue. The issues might be because of old/previous AVG traces.
In this case, I request you to remove AVG completely along with any previous traces using the AVG clear tool/AVG Remover tool and then do a fresh installation of AVG. This will ensure that none of the previous traces of AVG are left on your computer and you have an updated version.
Please follow the instruction ( http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product ) to run AVG Remover tool and AVG Clear tool.
After the computer reboots, you can follow the instruction to download/install/activate AVG Internet Security.
Best regards,
Alok.
AVG is saying my Virus definitions are out of date, however when I try to update them or the program I get an Invalid File Signature message and the procedure has been aborted? How can this be sorted?
I have had the same problem for months; I have had to do the de-install/re-install twice in the last 3 months to resolve this issue.
I was considering paying for AVG to replace McAfee, but have changed my mind. AVG is too time consuming.
This is a problem that many are having and AVG still has no fix?
Unacceptable!
