Hi

sorry for the delay in my response and thank you for your help (and sympathy)

the avg products i have are the anti-virus, web, identity, and email (everything except the firewall i guess)

here is the jpg image

avg executable during boing

it is conveniently at the very top of all the other programs … i hope the image is clear enough to read … cropped out of the entire desktop shot so here's to hoping and thanks for your attention already

happy new year

Hi Kelly,
I see that you are receiving annoying sound in your system very often. You need not worry, we will help you. Please open AVG and check if it shows that 'you are protected'. Also, we request you to update AVG to ensure that it is up to date.

1. To ensure that this is an AVG issue, we request you to disable AVG and check if you are still receiving the beep sound ( http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-disable-AVG ).
2. If the issue persists even after disabling AVG, then the issue is not with AVG. Please contact Microsoft for further assistance.
3. If the issue is fixed after disabling AVG, please let us know. We will help you with this concern.
Thank you for understanding. Have a great year ahead!

Hello –

Not even sure this is the right forum area but it is related how AVG is performing so ...

I spoke with a tech I believe two nights ago and don’t think I had the necessary information to have him help me.

The problem I keep having is that every 5 to 6 minutes or so there is the Windows Error “Boink” sounding. No error message comes up with this error noise. But opening the task master and waiting, I saw one program open then close quickly when the error boink was sounding. Taking a print screen shot of the task master open window of all the running programs in view, the only new name of ay of the processes that opens and quickly closes is avgcomdlga.exe – this seems to indicate an AVG file but without any error message to correspond with the sound or a part of the file name to indicate which part of the AVG suite it refers to I am at a loss as to where to start searching for some way to turn off this constant annoyance.

Tonight I can't even get through to the chat support (just spins and never connects) so am trying here.

Thank you for your time, consideration and any help in this matter,

Kelly Patterson
