Hi,

The 24/7 premium tech support number displayed in my AVG internet security is 0808 178 0824. Is this a legitimate and official AVG customer support telephone number?

There are no Google results when I search for 0808 178 0824.

A couple of weeks ago I called the number 0808 178 0824 and had a conversation with who I believed to be an AVG support staff. Though subsequent I had a doubt after reading what should be the full verification process described on the AVG website.

Yesterday I called the official number displayed on the AVG website (+44) 808-169-2189 and spoke with a support staff to verify if 0808 178 0824 is a legitimate AVG support number and to verify the legitimacy of my previous call. I was advised there was no record of the previous call in the AVG system, and the agent yesterday sent me a follow up survey email whereas the previous agent did not. I was unable to obtain a conclusive answer if 0808 178 0824 is a legitimate AVG customer support number.

If 0808 178 0824 is not a legitimate AVG telephone support number then why and how is the number being displayed in my security software? I think you can see the wider implications if that scenario transpires.

If 0808 178 0824 is a legitimate AVG support number then why are there no public internet pages with the number listed, why does your support team have no record of my call, and why are AVG support unable to tell me if the number is a legitimate AVG support number?
