Is AVG any good anymore?

Hi All,
I decided AVG ain't for me anymore, as I have cancelled all subscriptions.
For me AVG started well and I was happy.
However, when the bloat and interference started about 2 years ago, I started to get disgruntled.
I have found this brand to be very invasive, at times hijacking and operating not in the best interest of the subscriber.
Do others feel the same, what has been your experience and what alternative are you considering?
