Is there a way to get AVG to ask before downloading updates?

Thanks for using the AVG Community!

Unfortunately at this time there is no way to ask before automatically updating however you can modify the schedule settings so that it can be done at a time which is more preferable for you.

The other option is to disable automatic updates and once a day when you are at home or connected to wifi internet to force a manual update.

This can be done via Options -> Advanced Settings -> Schedules.

In there you will see Definition Update Schedule and Program Update Schedule which is what controls the automatic updates.

Thanks! I'm now back home but I'll try both options when I plan to be away again. I'm grateful for both responses. Incidentally, I used up a month's allowance this weekend - not caused by AVG downloads but simply by over-enthusiastic use. I must curb my excesses!

When away from home, I have a limited data plan. Any heavy downloads can soon use up the available data allowance or cause an expensive overrun. Is there a setting I can use so that AVG asks before downloading database or program updates. Would it be possible, for instance, to allow automatic downloads to only one address, that is, my home internet connection.
