This patch offer has appeared on my screen backed by what appears to be a genuine AVG page.

Can anybody enlighten me please???

I appreciate your patience in this matter.
The senior team is need of screenshot of what happened for this to appear on your screen.
It will be either detection of the JavaScript file he sent link to or fake popup from browser.
If you provide the screenshot it will be easy for us to understand and provide the right information.
