Is this pop-up legitimate?

May I know which AVG program have you installed in your computer ?
Do you get this update issue very often ?
There is also upgrade pop ups while we have initiated recently to help customer upgrade to AVG 2016,
please check what message the pop ups display if you get the pop ups again,
You could also provide us a screenshot of the pop ups using below link

In Windows 10, I just got a pop-up message (lower right-had corner of screen) telling me my |AVG protection was overdue and I should update. When I  clicked on the pop-up, I was taken to the dashbard, which told me my protection was up to date. I forced an update anyhow and got a message within a quick second that my protection is up to date, I've noticed that with the latest version of basic AVG and Windows 10 my protection seems always to be current, so wonder why I got the pop-up and what's the point of it if my protection is, in fact, up to date when I get it and at al other times I have ever checked it.

I have the free edition 2015.
I will save a screen shot of the pop-up if I see it again. I did not save it this time, because I did not become suspicious until I clicked on the pop-up, as directed, and linked to the dashboard, which indicated my protection was current.
The pop-up was definitely for an update, not an upgrade. I have seen the upgrade popup from time to time, so I am familiar with it.
