Passive mode is enabled when AVG detects a conflicting antivirus application on your PC.

My subscription renewed at the end of August 20. Since then it has not been working correctly and I keep getting messages telling me to update / buy more. It also says I am in Passive Mode
I have tried to repair as per other threads but this did not work. I have taken screen shots of the messages if needed.
Should my next step be to uninstall and try to reinstall?
