I have the same problem as Alexander. I downgrade from AVG pro and ever since then I am having black screens. This is already the second time that this has happened to me and it is very annoying.
Following the recommendations and running the removal tool and installing AVG free did not solve the problem.
I circumvented the problem temporarily by creating a new windows user account. WIth a new user account, the problem does not show up. But that solution is far from satisfactory.

NOTE: If there are no AVG program found, click on "Run Anyway" to proceed with the removal.
