Hello,
This morning, my Macbook Air suddenly quit and restarted. When my computer restarted, I got an AVG Antivirus notification that they had detected a virus. After I ran a scan, the virus detected was "JS:Nimba-B [Tri]." I tried to quarantine and delete, and AVG said it could do neither. I have cleared my cache, cookies, and browsing history in Safari. I also uninstalled AVG and installed the newest version and then restarted my computer. I started over and am still having the same problem.
How can I delete this file? Am I at risk?
Thanks
Hello Meredith,
Thank you for your patience and understanding. AS per requested from our developers, we keep you informed that "Nimda" is a malicious JavaScript, probably found in browser cache. It was probably found on some site that you might visited, and it was running in your browser or leaving your Mac no worse for it. It may have done something like display a scam pop-up or something similar, or may have attempted to infect the machine via Windows vulnerabilities (which would not work on your Mac). No need to worry, its not an threat. We can safely ignore this. In this case we need to clear browser's caches, that should fix the issue.
