Junk mail not working correctly after installing AVG

I am using Outlook 2007 on my Win10 PC. I have an IMAP account set up for my personal email and have been using it for many years. The junk mail filtering is enabled and it used to draw a line through junk mail in my inbox and move it to the "junk" folder. The email is then deleted when I change folder views in Outlook. But, since installing AVG, the junk mail filter doesn't cross out and move the junk emails to the junk mail folder, it just marks it as "read". The only thing that changed on my system is the installation of AVG. Do you know of any reason this would be happening? How can I fix it. I get over 1000 emails a day (mostly junk) and need the filter to work. Thanks
