Hello Steve,

Let's have a look at it together. Are you able to access your Solid-works when AVG is disabled?

Right click on AVG icon under system tray next to clock, click on toggle bar to disable Protection temporarily.

Open AVG Internet Security -> Menu at the top right -> Settings -> General -> Exceptions -> add your application & its site to the exception list.

Hi I have recently installed AVG anti virus and subsequently my Solidworks software has stopped working. It seems it can't connect to the activation server at     https://activate.solidworks.com       and comes back with the error "Activation Wizard initialization issue 72"

My SW tech guys are telling me to just set up an exemption for the above web site and make sure port 80 is open…

Can some one please tell me simply how, thanks.

Hi Avinash,

It looks like it may have just been a coincidence that I had installed AVG and then tried SW, the SW tech guys think it may have been caused by an unrelated software update.
Sorted now on the SW, I will re install AVG soon, hopefully all will go good. Thanks for the responses. Cheers.

Regards Steve

That's a great news!
Let us know if you need any help with re installing AVG.

Thank you for verifying it, Steve.
We believe it was not AVG that has caused the issue as it persists even after uninstalling AVG. Hope this issue will get sorted soon and if you need anything else, do not hesitate to let us know.
