Thank you for the explanation Geoff. You mean that you get threat detected message from AVG only when the Folder is moved to a particular place.
Could you please provide us the path where you moved the Folder? Wherever it is moved does it detects the threat?

Why is it that after a Full AVG Scan, where nothing shows up, I then start a folder move and a couple of AVG prompts, offering me the chance to remove the threats, pop up?

The laptop is my nephews. After reading your reply, I did a Remote link to his laptop and did another copy (of the folder created when I saw the first threats) but nothing detected this time (presumably AVG cleared it all up when previously found?)
Anyway, I will watch out for this in future - and follow the advice you give, before submitting a request for help.
