Just purchased the latest version of AVG but it won't download

Just purchased the latest version of AVG but after numerous attempts it won't finish the download.  It's showing error 12029 calling WINHTP_CALLCALLBACK_STATUS_REQUEST_ERROR connection with server could not be established.  I have a very fast system showing speed in excess of 250 and all my other programmes are working well,  I'm using Chrome.  I've already followed the information sheet and changed the DNS settings which enabled me to reach the point I'm at but then it stops.
How can I get the programme to work?  Also is there a way to disable the  AVG link to chrome which is blocking my access to some sites I know are safe.  John Dunderdale
