Keyboard disabled

Hello Jim,

We do understand your concern but have you installed our AVG antivirus program on the PC where you suspect that it is infected with the Virus?

I seem to have a virus that shuts down the computer.  At first, it was every few hours, then 30 minutes, then 10 minutes, now constantly, I can't even enter my password before I get a Shutting Down message with no option to cancel.

I've created a boot disk, that seemed to remove the problem, however it started coming back, and again, with longer then progressively shorter times between shutdowns.  Seems like we've removed most of the infections, but no what is spawning them.

Most recent development is my keyboard, which works fine on other machines, begins to change letters, (and I'm sure it's likely not the keyboard, but the virus changing the output), I type an "s" and it enters a "p", or the enter key does not work, or only works every 20th time (not actual timing, no pattern specifically, and sometimes it appears to be time oriented, i.e. after five minutes of sitting, it will then register a single press of the enter key, sometimes several in a row, then nothing for 250 presses.

Tried swapping out another keyboard to a different USB port, worked fine, then demonstrated the same problems as the first, yet both still work fine on other machines.

I don't know much about viruses, but this one seems to be learning and adapting.  The biggest challenge is it's hard to run a Boot Disk when the boot disk requires keystrokes which the virus interferes with.

AVG, have you ever considered creating a boot disk where the "I agree to the terms and conditions" are on your website and must be agreed to Prior to Downloading, then set the Boot Disk to run with no user interaction?  You might even consider having this as a Secondary DIsk, the first would be what you have now, with user interaction and agreements, but have this as an "If your Keyboard is Not Responding" use THIS disk sort of thing.

Just a thought.
