Have you tried to disable ( https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Disable-AVG-Antivirus ) AVG Internet Security and check the laptop performance?
Also, please check the CPU usage in Task manager. Keep us updated.
I have the same problem. I gave my computer to a specialist and he desinstalled AVG and everything runs well. After again installing AVG the computer is again slow.
It's a shame. I can understand that his program who I payed for, is big but it's affect to much the cpapcity of my PC. They have good programmers, means good people to solve this problem which is I am sure not new.
